Perfecting My Embroidery Stitches

I have decided to start a blog in order to review and improve my embroidery techniques.  As you can tell by the name of my blog, I am a left-hander.  I have never been happy with some of my stitches and put this down to having to learn to embroider my own way.  The only way I was able to do this was mirror my right-handed mum, in the beginning and later by following the right handed instructions given by just about any embroidery book I found.   It wasn't until much later in life, after joining a quilting group that I needed some help learning to do a colonial knot.  I found it very difficult to pick up this knot until I sat opposite a right hander and mirror imaged the lovely lady's technique.
I am going to try to improve my stitches by practicing only One Stitch a week.   Considering there are well over 200 embroidery stitches, I envisage this will keep me very busy for quite a long time.
If there are any left-handers out there who would like to join me in this endeavour, I would be very delighted.  I will be going through them alphabetically, on the whole, but have decided to start myself off perfecting First my stem stitch and Secondly my buttonhole stitch.
